Before Arkham's business
Born in Gloucester in 1881, the only one of five children to finish school. She nursed a parent through a long illness and has not quite forgiven the world for it. Has worked as a police matron for 3 years, and knows the women and children in the cells.
Nervous, cheerful and sceptical, with a quiet, private sense of the absurd. She talks to everyone, including dogs. She measures every step twice. She will do almost anything to learn the truth.

From the journal

Sat down with Bell. Good to speak of it. Kept turning over the figure at Arkham Historical Society on the way home. Lights out.
Walked the long way home, by the river. I always do. Bell was at Arkham Police Department when I came in. Bell had already been waiting ten minutes and made sure we knew it.
Routine day. Bell was at Arkham Police Department when I came in. Bell had already been waiting ten minutes and made sure we knew it. Weather poor.
