Before Arkham's business
Born in County Cork in 1898, brought up above a dry-goods store. He won a county spelling bee in 1905 and still mentions it. Has worked as an antiques dealer for 11 years, and knows provenance, and what an object remembers.
Careful, prickly and precise, with a quiet, private sense of the absurd. He is happiest in a crowd. He takes risks without noticing he is taking them. He refuses to carry a weapon.
